Step by step, the bird makes his nest

We started with a small studio on the ground floor. We continued with a staircase, an attic converted into a master suite with sitting area and shower room. We were then called back for the kitchen and the dining room, the stairwell, for an open fire and a bathroom!

The house dates from the 1930s. We agreed from the start with the client that the interventions would preserve the important and qualitative features of the house while erasing its smaller faults.
For cost reasons, certain elements have not been modified, such as the stair railing, which did not really appear in line with the date of construction of the house. So we opted for the option of a simple colored paint, transforming the staircase and its bearings into a ribbon running from top to bottom. This trick also made it possible to enhance the wooden doors, by making disappear the wooden textures of lesser quality.

The new staircase, although in contemporary, has been studied as a discreet block, blending into the wood veneer of the existing  styledoors.
The kitchen and the dining room are swapped and largely joined by the demolition of a wall which prevented the light from entering the house. The dining room will finally have a wide view on the outside for long family dinners. The kitchen will make the connection between dining room and living room. The house having the particularity of being designed as a gyratory sense, the staircase being placed in the center, it won’t be necessary to have to go through the kitchen to move from one space to another.

The customers, open to color, encouraged us in our research. Bright, playful, open, the spaces are like their owners!
